Bull Shoals Tailwater - Norfork Access

UTM 15 563909E 4007525N (NAD83/WGS84)

(Forty-four miles below Bull Shoals Dam. Go south on Hwy 5 across the Norfork tailwater bridge and into the town of Norfork. Take the sharp right turn at the Wolf House Cabin (fly shop on the left) and follow the road around and across the railroad tracks to the river.

Norfork confluence is a wide, sprawling part of the river. Wade fishing is often good here. There are times, however, when heavy generation from either Bull Shoals powerhouse or Norfork powerhouse or both will limit wadable access.

Good wade and boat fishing can be had at the confluence of the Norfork tailwater and the White River. Fishing off the old ramp is usually good.

Rising water from generation at Bull Shoals dam takes about 11 hours to come up, but water from Norfork dam can start to rise in as little as 1.2 hours. The cold water from Norfork dam recharges the tailwater and drops water temperature to benefit the trout fishing for another 45 miles on the White River. Care needs to be taken in launching a boat at the Norfork Access boat ramp. Swift current often flows close to the ramp.

There is excellent boat trailer parking above the access area.
