Norfork Tailwater - Dam Access
UTM 15 567990E 4011616N (NAD83/WGS84)
There is good wade fishing at the damsite access. Just be careful of changing water levels and get out when the horn sounds. Norfork tailwater rises and drops out extremely fast.
Norfork dam was the first of the five White River dams to be built. A war time building project, it was finished in 1944. Trout stocking started in 1948.
There is a strange mixture of cultures below the dam. Local lawn chair bait fishermen coexist with some of the best fly fishermen visiting from around the country. It's quite an atmosphere.
Don't overlook some of the obvious places to fish. There are some large trout that hold around close to the access areas. Careful presentations and patience is the key to finding nice fish here.
