Welcome to Ozark Fly Flinger
Scott Branyan stands by his second Mac "Progress" on her maiden launch below Beaver dam.
Greetings! I'm glad you found my web site flyflinger.com and hope you enjoy all its resources. This site has grown steadily into a complete information source on fly fishing Arkansas' White River tailwater system. Published continuously with weekly, and often daily, updates since 1996, the site is a compendium or digest of a continuing work in progress.
A lot of information has been provided to anglers fishing northwest Arkansas, north central Arkansas and southern Missouri. Fishing tips, discussion of equipment and regulations, techniques, the art of fly tying, links to realtime generation data, notice of conservation issues, frequently updated photos and trip reports make the site what it is.
I also pride myself in providing both accurate and prudent information. Arkansas tailwaters are inherently dangerous for anglers, and the information put out to the public should be provided with some forethought as to how people will use it. This is one of the reasons I rarely say where or when I fished a particular location. An area fished on the tailwater in relative safety one day may hold entirely different conditions the next. Hiring a safety-conscious, seasoned guide to help you learn the river over time and under a variety of conditions can be a good strategy, and it is cheap insurance in the long run.
However, the site is more than about me or my guide business. It's about you—the angler—appreciation of Arkansas trout, and protecting our Natural State's trout fisheries. Think of this place as your private reading room. I'll share much of what I know and will enjoy your company whenever you can visit.
Here is a summary of the different sections of the site.
