Welcome to Ozark Fly Flinger

Greetings! I'm glad you found my web site flyflinger.com and hope you enjoy all its resources. Published continuously with weekly, and often daily, updates since 1996, the site has steadily grown into a complete information source on fly-fishing Arkansas' White River tailwater system and Ozark streams.
A lot of information has been provided to anglers fishing northwest Arkansas, north central Arkansas and southern Missouri. Fly-fishing tips, discussion of equipment and regulations, techniques, the art of fly-tying, links to realtime generation data, notice of conservation issues, frequently updated photos and trip reports make the site what it is.
I also pride myself in providing both accurate and prudent information. Arkansas tailwaters are inherently dangerous for fly-fishers, and the information put out to the public should be provided with some forethought as to how people will use it. This is one of the reasons I rarely say where or when I fished a particular location. An area fished on the tailwater in relative safety one day may hold entirely different conditions the next.
However, the site is more than about me or my guide business. It's about you—the angler—appreciation of Arkansas trout, and protecting our Natural State's trout fisheries.
Here is a summary of the different sections of the site.
White River - This page is a brief introduction to the tailwater fly-fishing opportunities in northwest and north central Arkansas. Also under the menu is wade safety, estimated flow times, best time to fish, and public access point descriptions, which provide anglers with helpful info on the river system.
River Reports - Published on the Internet since February of 1996, the river report page has up-to-the-minute info on generation, trip reports and any special notices.
Area Maps - Links to Arkansas Game and Fish Commission maps of the individual tailwaters. AGFC has recently added a Google Maps file with river gauge points. Ozark Fly Flinger added Google map files with tailwater accesses in 2009.
Drift Boating - Shows you a look at my wooden McKenzie boats and discusses drift boats and the advantages to fly-fishing from a "Mac." The "Drift Boating 101" section gives you suggestions on how to prepare for a drift boat fly-fishing trip.
Guide Info - Interested in a guided drift boat fly-fishing trip? Here's the scoop.
Fly Patterns - Be sure to check here from time to time for updated pattern ideas for the area and tying tutorials.
Open Loops Q & A - A Question and Answer resource page. Ask me your question(s) on fly fishing. This can be on technique, equipment, how-to or virtually any fly-fishing subject on any level from beginner to advanced. Selected questions and the replies will be archived on the Q & A page for future reference by readers.
ReachCast Newsletter - Subscribe to my free ReachCast Newsletter.
Helps - Includes an annotated fly-fishing bibliography and some other helpful resources.
Photos - A yearly glance through select photos of fly-fishing Ozark tailwaters and streams. There is also a trophy wall!
Blog - The blog offers most of the announcements, reading links, personal fishing trip reports and other miscellany. Be sure to check here and on the river report page for the most current, vital information. RSS feeds are available for both pages.
