High Water Update

Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes are forecast to be back to normal levels by the end of this month. Look for continuous generation until then. Beaver is forecast to be back to normal pool October 5th. Look for prolonged generation there also until then.

The low dissolved oxygen season is the worst we’ve seen in a long time. I can tell the fish are stressed, so please handle them gently and keep them in the water when releasing. Water temperatures are running around 60-64°F on Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters and 55°F on Beaver tailwater.

In spite of the low DO and temperature issues, hopper fishing on Bull Shoals tailwater has been very good with the high water. We are finding some nice browns and occasional rainbows and cutthroats on hopper patterns. Not big numbers, but nice fish.

Hopefully, the good hopper bite will continue into October with lower water.
